Slipping Rib Syndrome
Usually occurs in the cartilage of the lower ribs 8 -10. The cartilage is overly flexible, allowing the ribs to slip out of place and overlap the rib above or below one another while irritating the nerves. This can be extremely painful.

Flared Rib
Usually occurs in the bottom half of the ribs, causing them to be forced forward creating a bigger separation between the ribs. This causes the ribs to sit at different levels and can be painful.
All of these deformities as well as others can cause medical symptoms that could make intervention necessary upon a doctor's complete diagnosis.
